The Dragon, The Witch, and the Swordswoman
By Claire Davon
As the person responsible for calling the bronze dragon that destroyed her village, Losha is tasked with killing it. Failure to do so means she will be outcast from everything she has ever known. Yet one she is on the road, two local women in tow, she finds that she is strangely reluctant to harm the beast that lurks in her mind.
After an encounter with an oddly familiar old woman and a knight in a small hamlet Losha is more confused than ever. On one hand, failure to slay the dragon means she cannot return to the promise of marriage from a local boy yet the more she learns about the dragon the less she wants to harm it.  It, like the bronze sword that is her only defense, speaks to her in a way nothing else has.
The stage is set for a final showdown between knight and beast when the knight’s true quest is revealed and Losha must choose between all she has ever known, or the companionship of an old woman…and a dragon.
Forging Mettle
By Michael Siciliano
Xander, a teenaged street thief in the grimy slums of Low Town, discovers he has an innate magical talent on the same night his father is killed. Intent on getting revenge, he attempts a risky robbery which goes bad. Rather than face the hangman’s noose, Xander agrees to accompany a group of soldiers intent on finding a powerful magical artifact. But the Beggar’s Hand isn’t what the King’s sorcerer thinks. Deep in the mountains, Xander must make life and death decisions, not just for himself, but the Kingdom he calls home.
The Myth of Mt Agony
By Kelly Said
Meadow’s mere presence ensures the Morningstar farm produces with preternatural abundance. A dirt-dusted foster-child, she hungers for harmony with Auric’s lands.
Valcone is the reclusive prince of Auric. Confined to his room—for the safety of his subjects—he craves control over his persuasive powers.
The prince and the farmgirl’s powerful personalities will collide with epic force when a war erupts between Auric and a neighboring kingdom. With Auric’s fate on the line, Valcone tests the limits of his ability. He amplifies his steady push into a forceful shove against Meadow’s gentle Nature. The Earth-shaper finds herself between a rock and a hard place, literally, where the only choice to save her family may lie in surrendering to the destructive force of her ground-breaking ability.
Mist Weaver
By Terri Rochenski
Dolan wants nothing more than to escape his village for the big city where his small stature and unpleasant features won’t make him the recipient of constant ridicule by the lord of the manor and his heir, Gilroy. The mist that dances to the sweet notes of Dolan’s flute is his only camaraderie and the only beauty in his life—except for Keavy.
When the kind milkmaid is faced with unwanted attentions, Dolan must defend her honor with a choice that will ultimately change his life.
Alice and the Egg
By Rebecca Hart
Alice would do anything for her father, the only parent she’s ever known since her mother’s death in childbirth. When he falls ill, Alice doesn’t hesitate when the opportunity to barter her life for his is presented by Jayden, the prince and only heir to the Dragorean throne.
It doesn’t take long for Alice to realize the palace has secrets. Ones that relate to her own past more than she could ever have imagined. If she can find a way to play the game of secrets well enough, not only could she save her father, she just may manage to save herself as well.

Portals Blog Tour: Top Two Fantasy Movies #Fantasy #NewRelease

PortalsTourButton

Welcome back to the blog.

Today, I have a treat for you all. In getting ready for the Portals tour, the authors and I talked about our favorite fantasy movies and compared notes. Today, I get to share their favorites with you all.

Before I get to their responses, think for a minute about what two fantasy movies you would pick if you have to choose only two favorites.

I’ll share mine once we hear from the amazing Portals authors and I’ve had a chance to share their new release with you all.

Here is what the Portals authors had to say:

Michael Siciliano:

1. The Princess Bride

Vizzini: You fell victim to one of the classic blunders—the most famous of which is, “Never get involved in a land war in Asia”—but only slightly less well-known is this: “Never go against a Sicilian when death is on the line”!

2. Monty Python and the Holy Grail

Minstrel: And Saint Attila raised the hand grenade up on high, saying, ‘O Lord, bless this thy hand grenade, that with it thou mayst blow thine enemies to tiny bits, in thy mercy.’ And the Lord did grin. And the people did feast upon the lambs and sloths, and carp and anchovies, and orangutans and breakfast cereals, and fruit-bats and large chu…

Maynard: Skip a bit, brother…

Minstrel: And the Lord spake, saying, First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin. Then shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out! Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who, being naughty in my sight, shall snuff it.

Havva Murat:

Pan’s Labyrinth and Stardust

Echo Shea:

“Green Mile” and “From Dusk till Dawn”

Anna Simpson:

Willow (1988) – The only character I saw was Val Kilmer. I had to watch it a few more times before I noticed all the magic, brownies the size of Barbie dolls, a two headed dragon, and a crazy crew of heroes that had no chance of success. Then and now, they are the only kind of heroes worth watching; all facing enormous odds for sake of a child’s life.

DragonHeart (1996) – Sean Connery’s voice did more than a voice-over in this film. I’ve never seen betrayal played better than when David Thewlis. Oh, how I hated him as he broke free from the goodie goodie prince role and became king. What brought them together and what kept them a part made for an outstanding story that still makes me look to the sky with a quivering chin. I do believe in dragons and always will.

Christy Thomas:

My number one Fantasy movie is definitely John Carpenter’s ‘They Live’. Aliens are frightening, but the idea that they could so easily control the world is creepy.

Another favorite is Matrix. Neo had been given the ultimate choice, to see the truth, or remain in the illusion. I would hope I would be courageous enough to take the red pill, but I think there are many people that would be happy to take the blue one because it’s easy to ignore the truth, especially when it’s hard to swallow. (Pun intended)

Laurie Treacy:

Lord of the Rings series and Labyrinth.

* * * *

There are a few listed above I hadn’t even thought of until this came up — two of which I consider on my tops lists… The Princess Bride and Labyrinth

My top two picks (before checking out the others) are:

THE NEVERENDING STORY and THE DARK CRYSTAL — Yes, I did (and still do) have a slight obsession with Muppets and muppet type creatures 🙂

Would love to hear some of your favorites… do you have some that aren’t on the list?

* * * *

Alone No More Blog Tour: Terri Rochenski’s Top Ten Romance Movies Plus a #Giveaway!

Things are really popping on the blog lately, which I love, and today is no exception. Actually, today is special in that one of my close friends and fellow authors, Terri Rochenski has stopped in today to share a bit about her newest release, ALONE NO MORE, as well as sharing her Top Ten Favorite Romance Movies with us.

I am a romantic movie junkie, so I am very curious to see what romances made Ms. Rochenski’s list and how many of them match up with my own. So, here is Terri with her list:

My top ten favorite romance movies of all time in no particular order

  1. Pride & Prejudice. While I enjoy any of the versions, the 2005 with Keira Knightly and Matthew MacFadyen is by far the best.
  2. The Notebook. I always think of my grandparents and the love they shared. This one always brings a tear or two.
  3. Sense & Sensibility, the 1995 version. Love love love.
  4. Cold Mountain. JUDE LAW on that roof top. Le sigh. Need I say more?
  5. The New World. Colin Farrell. Mmmmmm Seriously, though, even as a child I was intrigued by Pocahontas and her story. Even got to be her once in a middle school play.
  6. 17 Again – the only romantic comedy on this list! I always thought Zach Efron was a punk, but he did such a believable job in this film, and Leslie Mann was a riot. They had great chemistry and their quirky expressions just made this a great one for me.
  7. Legends of the Fall. No, it’s not really a romance movie, but it’s one of those haunting movies that sticks in the brain LONG afterwards. Longing, lost love … ugh. Hurts just thinking about it!
  8. Last of the Mohicans. Like #7, this movie is heart wrenching. That cliff scene – I cry every. Single. Time.
  9. Princess Bride. No explanation necessary IMO.
  10. Far and Away. One of the few times I’ve enjoyed Tom Cruise on the big screen.

Wow… I am shocked to see we only have two in common, but one if the two is my all time favorite, so I was glad to see LAST OF THE MOHICANS on the list. If you are wondering, the other one I would also have on my top 10 romance list is Legends of the Fall (as a matter of fact, Brad Pitt in that movie was the inspiration for my historical romance hero, Daniel O’Rourke).

What are your top 10 romance movies? Feel free to share your picks in the comments section. Love hearing from you. 🙂

Now that I have put you all off long enough and heightened anticipation, here are the details on Terri Rochenski’s release:

Today she enjoys an escape to Middle Earth during the rare ‘me’ moments her three young children allow. When not playing toys, picking them back up, or kissing boo-boos, she can be found sprawled on the couch with a book or pencil in hand, and toothpicks propping her eyelids open.

OneMoreDay_Cover_blogONE MORE DAY
By L.S. Murphy, Erika BeeBe, Marissa Halvorson, Kimberly Kay,
J. Keller Ford, Danielle E. Shipley, and Anna Simpson

Back of the Book: What if today never ends?

What if everything about life—everything anyone hoped to be, to do, to experience—never happens?

Whether sitting in a chair, driving down the road, in surgery, jumping off a cliff or flying … that’s where you’d be … forever.

Unless …

In One More Day, Erika Beebe, Marissa Halvorson, Kimberly Kay, J. Keller Ford, Danielle E. Shipley and Anna Simpson join L.S. Murphy to give us their twists, surprising us with answers to two big questions, all from the perspective of characters under the age of eighteen.

How do we restart time?

How do we make everything go back to normal?

The answers, in whatever the world—human, alien, medieval, fantasy or fairytale—could, maybe, happen today.

Right now.

What would you do if this happened … to you?

Excerpt from “The 13th Month” by L.S. Murphy coming soon in ONE MORE DAY!

December 31st, 2013 4:01pm

“Stop being a douche, Jackie. This end of the world crap is nothing but a load of … well, crap. Get over it.” I snatched our shared laptop from my little brother and closed the lid, not bothering to check out the site he’d become fixated on during the last hour. Jackie’s conspiracy theories were a constant pain in my ass.

“Give it back, Nixon.” He whined, reaching across my body as I shoved the ancient computer behind my back. “This one’s real. I’m telling you; it’s gonna to happen.”

“Just like you said Rapture was real, right? Or the Mayan prophecy of December twenty-first in two-thousand twelve?” I shoved his thirteen-year-old body away from me. “Guess what, dipshit? Twenty-twelve has come and gone with the world still spinning. Get outta here so I can chat with my girl.”

Jackie stood, brushing invisible dirt of his green plaid shorts. In a few years, he’d either be modeling or coming out of the closet. I swore my brother got all the looks in the family—Mom’s California blonde hair, Dad’s bright blue eyes, and at least two inches taller than I was.

Me? I inherited Dad’s brown hair that curled if it got too long and Mom’s brown eyes the color of dry dirt. In other words, boring.

“One of these days, you’ll believe me,” Jackie said, his voice deeper than normal. His eyes sparkled like ice held up to a light bulb. “The end is coming. Everything will stop. And there’s nothing you can do to prevent it.”

“Dude, did you forget your Zoloft, or something? What’s with the voice?” I fell onto my twin bed, wishing for the millionth time I had my own room. The computer lay across my thighs, warming the denim beneath it.

Flipping me the bird, Jackie left the room and slammed our door behind him, rattling the windows from the force. The little shit must’ve started lifting weights. I glanced over to his half of the room but saw no sign that my brother had suddenly decided to add to his martial arts workout. Instead, his side was spotless, with a perfectly made bed, organized desk, laid-out clothes, and his lined-up tae kwon do ribbons. Jackie switched disciplines when he was seven, while I stuck with karate. I would’ve quit, but girls thought it was sexy. Laura included.

My shit was less than perfect. A box shoved into the closet hid my wrinkled karate ribbons. Homework and textbooks littered my desk. Even our matching blue plaid comforters were opposites—mine faded and wrinkled, his smooth and bright like the day Mom bought it.

Shaking my head, I opened the laptop and typed in the password. Laura was far more important than worrying about what was up little bro’s butt. Especially since we had big plans that night. Her parents would be out ringing in twenty-fourteen at some hotel soiree, leaving the house to us. Alone. Six years of crushing on her and six months of dating her were leading to what I hoped would be the best night of my life.

About L.S. Murphy: L.S. Murphy lives in the Greater St. Louis area where she watches Cardinals baseball, reads every book she can find, and weaves tales for teens and adults. When not doing all of the above, she tends to The Bean (aka her daughter), her husband and a menagerie of pets. She is the author of romance novellas A Reason to Stay and Neighbors. Her debut novel Reaper, a YA paranormal romance, is now available.

She is a member of Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) and the St. Louis Writer’s Guild.

I have to say, this one looks like a real winner. Check it out.

agag1mAFTERMATH: Guts and Glory
by Tyler Robbins

Genre: M/M erotic Romance

Publisher: Evernight Publishing

Blurb: When the brother he idolized is killed in action in Afghanistan, Kyle Barrett is rocked to his core. With his only confidant gone, Kyle struggles to deal with the loss, while fighting to keep his hidden sexuality a secret from his parents.  If only he didn’t have to face them alone.

Army veteran, Ryder Bishop has returned from his final tour in Iraq, when severe PTSD forces him to seek help through a new counseling program back home in Texas.  Just when Ryder thinks he’s reached the end of his rope, he meets Kyle, and their lives take a remarkable turn.

Can the grieving brother and damaged soldier find the peace they so desperately need? Or will they become statistics when the aftermath of war hits too close to home?

They might have shipped the soldier home, but his demons have come with him.

Be Warned: m/m sex, rimming, food play

Excerpt (Mature Audiences ONLY):

Kyle took a deep breath to steady his excitement then slowly unfastened Ryder’s jeans. He pulled them down just a bit, low enough to remove the semi-hard cock from Ryder’s boxers. The shaft stiffened in the palm of Kyle’s hand, and he liked the feel of the delicate flesh against his own skin. He slowly tightened his gripped and began to stroke.

“Shit.” Ryder moaned again, and rolled his hips.

Kyle watched Ryder’s expression as his movements hastened. Ryder, this strong, mountain of a man, who dominated the basketball court, and practically mopped the floor with Kyle every time they played, literally melted in Kyle’s hand.

Exhilarated by that extra confidence, Kyle found the courage to take the next step. The natural step he’d wanted to take since he first laid eyes on the other man’s cock. Kyle licked his lips, then flicked the head of Ryder’s dick with his tongue.

Ryder shuddered.

Kyle lapped the salty surface of Ryder’s crown then encircled it with his lips, until he lowered his head, and drew half of the fleshy shaft into his mouth.

“Fuck.”

Kyle’s ears rang, and his heartbeat boomed like a bass drum inside his head. The more he sucked in, the louder Ryder’s groans became, thrilling Kyle even more.

Ryder made a hissing sound. “Careful with the teeth.”

Kyle corrected his technique and covered the thick shaft with his lips instead, then dove back down for another plunge.

“Mmm.” Ryder bucked his hips, forcing himself deeper into Kyle’s mouth. “Yeah, that’s it.”

Kyle’s eyes watered as Ryder’s cock bumped the back of his throat, flooding his mouth with Ryder’s salty-sweet essence.

Ryder grasped the back of Kyle’s head and shoved himself in harder. “Feels so fucking good.”

Kyle gripped the base, and used his hand to jack Ryder off as he continued to suck and lick, until Ryder abruptly pulled back, and stopped him.

“What?” Kyle’s mind whirled, and he fought to take Ryder’s cock back into his mouth.

Ryder’s stomach muscles rolled, and his breathing deepened. He inhaled deeply before speaking. “You’ve seriously never done this before?” Disbelief resonated in his tone.

Was he serious? He’s asking this now? “Never.”

“Shit.” Ryder licked his lips, his eyes glazed over. “So that means,” Ryder skimmed his thumb over Kyle’s tingling bottom lip, “nobody’s ever done it to you either.”

Kyle drew in a deep breath, doing his best not to bust a nut just at the thought of it. “No.”

A gleam sparked in Ryder’s eyes “Lie back.”

Chills wreaked havoc across Kyle’s flesh. Oh shit.

Ryder’s eyes danced back and forth as though searching Kyle’s for an answer to a question he hadn’t bothered to ask. His brow bunched, and he eased closer. “Just don’t forget to breathe.”

New Release News: The Doctor’s Deception by Kathleen Grieve

The Doctor’s Deception
Author: Kathleen Grieve
Genre: Erotic Romance
Publisher: Evernight Publishing
Release Date: Nov. 30, 2012

Blurb: Hard-headed, straight-laced Dr Stone Lassiter is one heart surgeon about to lose everything he’s worked his entire career for.  He is locked in a battle of wills against the nurses of the surgical intensive care unit of Deerborne County General.

At first, the new doctor was definitely drool-worthy.  Sexy or not, the nurses have had enough!  Their secret weapon? Unsuspecting SICU nurse, Faith Daniels, a cool green-eye blonde that turns Dr. Lassiter’s head every time she’s near.  Poor Faith has the “worst luck” in drawing the short straw and is forced to work with Dr. Lassiter repeatedly.

Will the nurses’ plan to have Dr. Lassiter fall in love with one of their own work in softening him toward the nursing staff? Or will the little white lie Stone tells Faith to enlist her aid to obtain his goal destroy the fragile bond of love that has developed between them?

Excerpt:

Faith moaned and woke to the constant chiming of her doorbell and pounding on the front door.  The wonderful, erotic dream of Stone painting her with melted chocolate burst.

She lifted her head and glanced at her clock. 7:00a.m. Groaning, she pulled the covers over her head and rolled onto her stomach, trying to recapture her fantasy.  Maybe whoever it was would go away if she ignored them.

Ding-dong… Ding-dong… Ding-dong…

“Oh, give it a rest already!” she yelled, climbing out of bed.  The cool morning air hit her bare legs and arms, and she shivered.

She reached the front door and yanked it open.

Stone Lassiter stood on her step, hand in air, ready to pound the unrelenting wood again.

Staring, her fogged brain tried to wake up.  Hadn’t he just been in her room?

No, that wasn’t real you nit-wit!

You!  What’s the big idea?  Do you realize how early it is?  It’s my day off!”

Not to mention, I was in the middle of the best dream of my life.

New Release News: Family Ties by Robin Badillo @evernightpub

Today on the Book Nook, we are featuring another amazing looking Evernight Publishing release, Family Ties by Robin Badillo. I can tell you right now, the cover on this one really grabbed me.

** THIS STORY IS EROTIC IN NATURE AND THE INFORMATION CONTAINED BELOW IS FOR ADULT AUDIENCES ONLY!

Here are the details on the Ms. Badillo’s new release:

Title: Family Ties

Author: Robin Badillo
Publisher: Evernight Publishing
Genre: Erotic Romance

BLURB:

Every pack needs an alpha and every alpha needs a pack.

Tucker Wilde, a lone wolf, returns to the town where his shifter lineage first began, only to discover his rightful place as alpha has been handed down through another blood-line. To make matters worse, old family secrets threaten the fate of the love he’s destined to find.

Shifter, Tegan Blaid is the key to saving her pack by joining with the son of a powerful pack member, but her heart belongs to Tucker, the one wolf she was never meant to know.

Can Tucker and Tegan fight the forces against them to secure their positions in the pack, or is history determined to repeat itself despite their family ties?

ADULT EXCERPT:

She held her breath when the oversized wolf emerged into the clearing. Every muscle in his broad shoulders flexed and she could see the rise and fall of his chest with every heavy breath he took.

Tegan rose to her feet and reached for the thick fur around his neck. God, he’s so beautiful.

Not nearly as breathtaking as you.

“Wait?” She withdrew her hand. “You really can read my thoughts.”

Can’t all wolves hear each other’s thoughts? He nudged her hand with his snout.

“No.” Tegan splayed her fingers through his coat, tugging on it as she massaged the firm muscles between his shoulder blades. “I’ve never heard another wolf’s thoughts and as far as I know, none have ever heard mine.” This is crazy.

We’re just special, I guess.

“Yeah, I guess.”

Tucker moved closer, rubbing himself against her thigh. Run with me.

“Tucker, I…” Tegan drew his warm body near, hugging him to her leg. “Okay. Okay”

Tucker eased back and sat on his haunches.

Tegan swallowed hard as a flurry of angst dashed through her body. In order to run, her clothes had to go.

Keenly aware of Tucker’s intense stare, Tegan removed his jacket and let it fall to the ground, her eyes fixated on his. “Are you going to watch me undress?” Her heart raced and she struggled to control the goose-bumps rippling across her skin as she awaited his reply.

Do you want me to watch you?

Tegan nodded. But not like that.

Tucker immediately transitioned back into his human form and stood across from her, naked, and glistening with beads of perspiration.

As her gaze trailed downward, moisture gushed between her legs when her eyes feasted upon his massive erection jutting upward toward his stomach. Holy Hell.

Tucker ran his hand up the length of his shaft and thumbed the slit. He bit his bottom lip as though pleased to present himself to her. “Your turn.”

“God, you’re beautiful.”

“Nowhere near as breathtaking as you.”

Tegan stepped closer, unbuttoning her blouse. “Have you ever been with a shifter?”

Tucker swallowed hard, his eyelids lowering to half-mast as he visually took her in.  “Didn’t even know I was a shifter until recently.”

Dismissing his reply, Tegan moved on to her next question. “Why can’t other wolves hear me?”

“I don’t know. Maybe no other wolf is meant to.”

Good answer. She licked her lips, giving her instincts free reign over her body as she slinked toward him. “I can’t stop thinking about you. Your scent is everywhere.”

Tucker reached out and cupped the back of her neck with his right hand, drawing her face closer, inches from his. “Not everywhere—yet.” With that, his mouth crashed into hers and a growl like none she’d ever heard echoed into the night.

Tucker tore away her top and ran long, thick fingers up and down her back, pulling and tugging at her bra as his hot kisses trailed along her throat.

“God, you smell so good.” Tucker dropped to his knees and quickly unfastened her jeans, jerking them down from side to side, licking her stomach and nipping at the tender skin on her hip bones as he ventured lower.

Her panties were next and she stepped out of them as he guided them past her knees.

“Now let’s see how you taste.”

Tegan shuddered as he selfishly lapped at her freshly waxed mound. She sucked air through her teeth when he parted her lips and probed her clit with the hardened tip of his tongue.

“Shit.” Her knees weakened and she felt herself losing the battle to stand.

Tucker stopped and lowered her to the ground.

In seconds, his lips found hers again. His tongue plunged deep and she sucked it, tasting her own tangy juices. “I want you so bad.” Tegan moaned.

“Then have me.”

New Release News: Meet Elyzabeth M. VaLey, Author of THE LOST MERCENARY

Welcome to another installment of what is quickly becoming my favorite “regular” posting — New Release News. Today I have the author of THE LOST MERCENARY, Elyzabeth M. VaLey. Her novel released on November 5th from Evernight Publishing.

Welcome to the Book Nook Elyzabeth. I thought we would start out things with a few questions. Nothing too complicated, so don’t worry. *grin*

Bex: Are you a pantser or a plotter?

Elyzabeth: A lot of my novels begin with a single scene and no idea where they’re heading. However, once I’ve written that scene and gotten it out of my system, I try to plan out where I want the story to go. It is true, however, that a lot of the time those outlines change as a write.

Bex: Do you have any writing rituals or special processes you complete before sitting down to write?

Elyzabeth: I don’t have any specific writing rituals but I like to have music playing in the background when I write. Music plays an important part in most of my novels.

Bex: If you could only write in one genre for the rest of your career, what genre would you choose? Why?

Elyzabeth: I think I would probably pick historical romance because there is so much to chose from. The possibilities of learning about actual history and intertwining it with a romance are practically endless!

Bex:  If allowed to keep only one book on your bookshelf, what would it be?

Elyzabeth: Oh, this is a hard question… I think, it’d probably be Lord of The Rings, especially now that they sell the trilogy as one book. It’s a book I never grow tired of reading.

Bex: What music was on your playlist while writing your novel?

Elyzabeth: I usually have a specific soundtrack for each novel, with one or two songs that stand out more than the rest. In the case of The Lost Mercenary there were three major songs:

1. For a lot of the action scenes, I used a video I found on You Tube titled “Epic Music Mix 4” (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QlPJYGY_mNg) .

2. “Promontory” from the film The Last of the Mohicans (this one is a long time favorite and I have also used it for the other two books in The Mercenary Tales). (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K1ryJDVuZ6k)

3. Last but definitely not least, this song titled on Youtube “Braveheart-Main Theme”. However,  in the description it says that it “is not from the OST cd itself, it is made by a Celtic Bagpipe orchestra.” (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JYMySrHL0Fo)

Bex: Morning person or grumpy bear?

Elyzabeth: If I sleep well, I’ll wake up in a good mood, usually singing and playing with the dogs, or making noise as my sister says, *g* However, if I’ve had a bad night or am PMS’ing then… be scared.

Bex: What group were you a part of in High School? Jocks? Nerds? Metal heads?

Elyzabeth: In high school I wasn’t so much a nerd as a “weird one”. At the end of 10th grade, I became a weird one and a metal head, which made it even more fun. Except for a few moments, I’ve always been pretty proud of being different. What fun is there in being just like everybody else? LOL.

Bex: Tell us one thing it would surprise us to know about you?

Elyzabeth: Elyzabeth M. VaLey is my pen name! Both my real name and my last name start with M, hence the M. in the middle. *g*

Bex: Tell us something about your book we won’t find in the back cover blurb?

Elyzabeth: There is a secondary character that might get his own novel in the future…

Bex: Coke or Pepsi?

Elyzabeth: Neither. I don’t like Coke, Pepsi or anything that has a similar taste. I used to drink it until I was in 4th grade, but during a class party, I tasted Pepsi Boom or Pepsi Max (I can no longer remember) and from that point on, I can’t stand the taste. The only way for me to drink Coke is in what Spaniards call “Calimocho”. It’s a mix between wine and Coke and it’s what adolescents have when they start drinking alcohol. Still, I’m not very prone to it either.

Bex: If I were to look in your closet right now, would I find frills and lace or demin and tees?

Elyzabeth: You’d find both. I have frills and lace, especially for going out, because I favor the romantic Goth style, but as late, since most Goth clothes are so expensive, I’m using more jeans and tees, so there’s also some of that. Then there’s also my “normal” work clothes.

Bex: Great answers! Thanks, Elyzabeth 🙂

Now that you all know a bit more about the author, let’s take a look at Elyzabeth’s newest release, THE LOST MERCENARY

Blurb:

All he ever wanted was a family and some land for farming. Instead, his dreams were ripped at the seams by a ruthless king. Choosing to become a mercenary, Gregorii has roamed the land clinging to a past he thought long gone until Emmeline stumbled onto his path. Now, his dreams resurface and hope re-emerges. The only problem is Emmeline’s defiance.

Emmeline has a secret. An important secret. A dangerous secret. Few know her mission. Fewer know her past. When Gregorii turns up in her life, past, present and future unite and her whole world threatens to crumble.

How long will she be able to hide the truth from him? How long will her heart resist the inevitable?

Excerpt:

Sharply taking hold of her hands, he tied her wrists together. Pulling her to her feet, he bound her to the lowest branch, forcing her to almost stand on her tiptoes. Her face was flushed, her eyes bright and her hair disheveled, the taut braid she wore earlier practically gone. Gregorii swept his gaze over her body and he felt his cock ooze in appreciation. She was truly gorgeous. Curvy, with toned legs and breasts with large hard nipples begging to be touched and tasted.

“Grearióus, release me or I will kill you,” she threatened in a low murmur.

He lifted his eyes to her face and licked his lips. He was anxious to kiss her again, yet he knew it would not be an easy task at the moment. “I believe your position is not exactly one of ease for killing, though I do not doubt your capabilities. You have a nasty right hook,” he said, rubbing his shoulder. “And incredibly strong legs, not to mention a delicious tasting pussy. No wonder you became mistress of the brothel.”

Emmeline spat at his feet and he grinned.

“Tell me what I want to know and I will release you and no one will know the better. We can even have a peaceful fuck afterwards. I know you want it as much as I do.” He glanced into her eyes, but she spat again, this time the dribble landing on his face. Chuckling, he brushed it off like a bothersome fly.

“I’ve been submitted to worst torture than this. You don’t have it in you to hurt me. You were never good at hurting others.”

“It’s been ten years, Avalina, I have changed.”

“No, you haven’t. You are still the gentleman, the kind hearted soul who will help maidens in distress. You might be a mercenary, but that is only on the outside. Inside, you are still that playful boy with a heart of gold. I have seen you fight before and it was not what we just did here. You didn’t want to hurt me,” she accused.

“You didn’t want to hurt me too badly, either. You killed that man in the woods without contemplation. Right now, you doubted your moves or we would both be very badly injured. In truth, you’re still that vulnerable child challenging everyone because she’s scared of the world.”

“No.”

“No?”

“No, Grearióus. I lost my vulnerability the moment Ragnahall burned down. I admit I am scared of the world. You have no idea what is out there, Gregorii,” she whispered anxiously. “But now, I challenge for survival.”

“You don’t always have to fight against everything, Ava,” he murmured. “You don’t have to fight me.”

He watched Emmeline carefully as she lowered her lashes and chewed on her bottom lip, mulling on his words. In two strides, he stood inches away from her, his fists clenched at his sides so he wouldn’t touch her. She glanced up at him with large brown eyes full of fear, causing his heart to flutter nervously.  “Why won’t you tell me why you’re really going to Karpathian?” he asked softly.

Emmeline squared her jaw, her lips thinning and her eyes growing hard. “There is nothing to tell, Gregorii.”

“I think there is.”

She shook her head, lose strands of her long hair falling over her face, framing the pink lips he itched to kiss.

“You will tell me.”

“Like I said,”—she lifted her cool gaze to his eyes—“there is nothing to tell.”

“I will torture you for information.”

“I am no stranger to pain.”

Gregorii grinned and laughed. Reaching out, he roughly cupped her jaw. She inhaled sharply. “The torture I have in mind for you, Emmeline, my sweet Avalina, is quite different.” Dropping his head, he captured her lips in a searing kiss. She hesitated for a fraction of a second before opening her mouth to him and allowing his tongue to brush hungrily against hers. Gregorii pressed the length of his body against hers, wanting her to feel the need between his legs. He dropped his hands to her ass, caressing and squeezing the firm, round globes. Emmeline whimpered, the sound fueling his desire to new heights. His fingers brushed against the apex between her thighs, the heat there blazing. Panting slightly, he pulled away.

“I am no stranger to sex,” she said huskily.

Gregorii grinned. “I know, but I believe that like most whores, you are a stranger to soul weakening desire. The kind of attraction we feel for each other is as strange to you as it is to me.”

New Release News: The Good Sister (Part 2) by London Saint James (@LSJRomance)

Welcome back to the Book Nook. Always happy to have you stop by. 🙂

I am working on posting more regular content to the blog, and it’s been tough to balance writing and blogging. So I decided I needed to ‘share the stage’ a bit more and reach out to other authors. Feature their wonderful works and stories more often — not just their covers and an occasional review. Heck, I was an avid reader first.

Anyway, as part of my effort to branch out more, I have started a new feature I like to call New Release News, and today I have an Evernight Publishing release to share with you all — The Good Sister (Part Two) by London Saint James.

Because there is nobody better to tell you about their “baby” than the author, here’s London to tell you all a little bit about her and her second steamy installment.

Thanks so much for having me today to talk about my newest release, The Good Sister (Part Two). Inspiration to write, for me anyway, comes from so many different things. A place, a picture, a song, a poem, and even quotes. The idea for The Good Sister came from a quote, and blossomed into a two book series. Here’s the quote that started it all:

We always long for the forbidden things, and desire what is denied us.

~Francois Rabelais~

 The Good Sister Part Two

by London Saint James

Release Date: Nov. 1, 2012

Publisher: Evernight Publishing

Genre: Erotic Romance

Blurb:

Trinity Lane Winslow stepped out of her fantasy world and into the real one on a quest to obtain the object of her desire—Reid Addison. The pursuit led her to the infamous Madam Jacqueline Claudette Rousseau, the man she craved, and the debonair Lord Archer, the man who offered what she really longed for—love.

When Reid revealed his dark side, he knew he’d sealed his fate and pushed Trinity into the waiting arms of Lord Archer. Can he live with his decision?

Lord Archer would do anything for his beautiful Trinity, but is he strong enough to hold onto her with all that conspire against them?

Note: The Good Sister 2 is the completion of a two-book, erotic contemporary series. Best if read in order. The Good Sister 2 contains anal sex, abduction and attempted rape of the heroine by a secondary character.

The Good Sister Part Two Excerpt:

The ride back to the chateau was brief, only because I curled up on Ashton and fell asleep. I was surprised when he woke me with the news we had arrived, nonetheless happy to feel his lips pressed firmly upon mine. When the kiss became a little more heated, and I sucked his tongue into my mouth, our exit from the car waited.

“Ashton, we should get out of the car because if we continue I may do naughty things.”

Ashton guffawed. “Yes, I am in agreement, my dove. And by the by, you need to button your shirt.”

“And you need to zip your pants.”

Clothes straightened, breath regained, and thoughts cleared, we left the confines of the car. When we walked through the door of the chateau, everyone came to meet us. That in itself wasn’t unusual, but what was unusual was the fact everyone seemed to be on edge.

“Welcome back, my petit,” Jacqueline greeted, giving me a peck on the cheek.

“What’s going on?” I asked. “Why is everyone looking like someone died?”

“Reid is here,” Breeze confessed in a rush, blurting out the words. “He’s been on a rant.”

As if a tornado called forth on cue, Reid stormed into the foyer.

“Fuck!” he exclaimed, glaring at me. “Do you know how worried I have been about you? I knew Archer was coming, but you never said anything about leaving with him.”

“Reid,” Alec, Jacqueline’s muscle and right hand man, said in his warning voice. “You will calm your voice and control your anger while speaking with Trinity, or I will throw you out.”

Ashton stepped in front of me.

“Reid,” he said, and to my surprise he was using a polite tone. “I understand how you might worry for Trinity. However, I can assure you, I would never allow any harm to befall her.”

Reid’s eyes flickered fury.

“Archer.” Reid’s voice sounded as though acid was on his tongue. “I really could care less what you have to say.”

“Stop it!” I said. I huffed around Ashton, feet planted firmly. “Reid, you have no claim over me nor do you have any say in who I spend my time with or where I go.”

Reid glared at me for a moment then the glare changed to anger apparent as his features turned to stone. His silver eyes narrowed. Ashton held on to my waist, as if he were ready to snatch me back and pummel Reid if necessary.

“Trinity,” Reid said through clenched jaw. “Do you want to tell me something?”

“No,” I said, lifting the set of my chin.

“So you don’t want to tell me why you are wearing a fucking rock on your hand?”

Immediately, everyone seemed to stare at my hand.

“Well…” Ashton smiled. “We were going to make a formal announcement, but since Addison is set on making a scene,” Ashton said, taking hold of my hand. “I have asked Trinity to marry me, and she has accepted my proposal.”

A cacophony of noise followed. Gleeful laughter from all my sisters could be heard. Sincere congratulations from Alec. A hitching breath from Jacqueline, and a quite loud, “Fucking hell, you have got to be pulling my dick!” from Reid.

I snapped.

“Reid, I swear. You may be my friend, but I want to punch you in the face!”

Ashton chuckled.

“Trinity,” Reid muttered, looking almost befuddled. “Fucking shit!” he yelled.

He balled up his fist before he threw up his hands. Reid turned and stormed past everyone, cussing all the way out the front door before he slammed it with a thundering shake.

Ashton smiled his wicked smile, gazing at me. “That went rather well,” he said with a tone of not quite joking.

Wolf at the Door

Author: Rebecca Brochu
Publisher: Evernight Publishing
Genre: M/M Paranormal Erotic Romance
Keywords: Paranormal, M/M Romance, Erotic, Shifters
Release Date: October 20, 2012

Blurb:

Darin Brightmore is a nurse who runs to escape the stress of his job.  He’s unprepared when a routine trip down a local hiking trail lands him in the arms of a sexy stranger.  Darin is instantly drawn to the charming Raylan and is disappointed when their encounter is cut short.  Shortly after the encounter his life takes a turn for the strange.

Raylan Loup is a werewolf who is beyond pleasantly surprised when he stumbles across the enticing Darin one late afternoon.  Determined to claim the quirky nurse as his own Raylan sets out to win Darin over.  Unfortunately the appearance of a Huntsman dead set on putting Raylan down turns what should have been a routine courtship into a battleground.

Can Darin accept all of the danger that comes with being Raylan’s mate or will he wish he never let the wolf at the door into his heart?

Teaser Excerpt:

Raylan presses their joined hands to Darin’s stomach, and his other arm comes up to wrap around his chest so that his hand is hooked around the curve of Darin’s opposite shoulder.  They fit together like puzzle pieces, and Darin isn’t ashamed of the way his stomach clenches and his cock goes hard and long in his loose fitting pants.  Not when he can feel every inch of Raylan against him and he knows that the werewolf is just as affected.  Raylan dips his head and nudges Darin’s to the side so that he can run his nose along the length of his throat.

“You have no idea what it did to me to have you ask for something.  What it did to the wolf to have you participate, even unknowingly, in the gifting.  It took all the control I had left not to come for you then.  Not to push my way into your life and take and take until there was no part of you I hadn’t touched, no part I hadn’t tasted.  No part of you that wasn’t completely mixed with a part of me.”  Raylan’s teeth close over the tender flesh of Darin’s neck, and he whimpers, hips bucking up and fingers tightening around Raylan’s hand.

Raylan doesn’t stop. He just tightens his hold on Darin’s shoulder, squeezes his hand in return, and grinds the long arch of his cock against Darin’s ass.  When he finally pulls away, Darin is breathless and knows that he’s going to have one hell of a mark.  It makes something inside of him sit up and whine, makes him want to beg Raylan to do it over and over again, to mark him from head to toe.

“It got worse when I had to leave, when the Huntsman was so hard on my trail I had to disappear for a while to try to make it seem like I’d moved on.  I was two states away and the wolf would take over, would drag me almost halfway here before I could take control back enough to turn around.”  Raylan whispers the words into Darin’s ear.

“I-I don’t understand.  Why would the wolf drag you back here when there’s danger?”  Darin does his best to keep his voice even, but he knows he’s failing, can feel the tremors that are wracking his body and the way his heart’s beating fast enough to burst.

“Because it wants you, too, just as bad as I do, and it didn’t like being away from you, being unable to protect you.  And then last night when you helped me, when you treated the wound, put me in your bed and then slipped in beside me like a true mate would, I couldn’t help but move things forward to the next step.”

Darin remembers the hot press and glide of bodies and hands, the thick heat of Raylan pressed against him and the tight ring of his fingers as he wrung Darin’s orgasm out of him.  He has a fairly good idea of what the third step is.  He can vaguely remember Raylan rubbing his back, the warm dampness of his hand and the way his skin had been sticky and itchy this morning.  His dawning awareness must show somehow because Raylan’s laughing again, a dark husky chuckle that sends puffs of warm air across the mark on Darin’s neck.

“Hmm, I enjoyed it, too, enjoyed rubbing my scent onto you and yours onto me, enjoyed the thought of you lying there asleep, so trusting and smelling of our sex.  It’s a sign that you’re mine, that you belong to me and that I’m going to mate you.  If another wolf got anywhere near you they’d know right away that you were taken.  It’s still a struggle not to bend you over this counter and take you, to hold back and not fuck you right here in this kitchen until you can’t move, can’t think, without feeling me inside of you.  The scenting helps, even though the fact that it’s faded a bit because of your shower is slowly driving me crazy.  I want to be so deep inside your skin that you’ll never wash me off.”

Raylan untangles their fingers, and his now free hand skims its way beneath Darin’s too large shirt, and he hooks a thumb in the waistband of his pants.  His fingers caress the arch of Darin’s cock, finding the little wet spot on the fabric that’s proof of just how affected Darin is and worrying it with a nail.

“As a matter of fact, I think I’ll fix that problem right now.”
