Back in the Swing with a Mid-Week Tease #MWTease #Erotic #WIP

MidWeekTease2

I am starting to get myself back in the swing of things… meaning I have found some time to get back to posting a bit more regularly on the blog here — Yes, I know you all missed me SOOO much — right?

Today, my little teaser comes to you from a WIP I have had shelved while I concentrated on Roane Publishing matters. But, like all good stories, I can hear the MC’s beckoning me from afar, so I will be getting back into this tale shortly.

Today’s snipit comes to you from a little shifter tale I have in the works. This is one I actually forgot was even on my hard drive until I started looking for something to work on the other day. I started reading and decided it was not only good — I dont even remember starting it.  Well, maybe some of it I remember… like the hot male shifter, maybe *wink*

Anyway, here is my tease for you this week:

* * * *

The tantalizing scent of roasted vegetables tickled my senses, urging me to return from the edge of nothingness, and coaxing me to open my eyes. I regretted the action almost instantly. Light streamed in the open window to pierce my skull with its fiery rays of torture. Squinting, I lifted a hand to shield them. Pain sliced through me at the slight movement, causing me to suck a breath in through gritted teeth.

Memories rushed in. My last hunting trip as a free woman, the buck I’d shot, the angry wolf pack, piercing amber eyes laced with … concern?

“You’re awake. Excellent.”

I emitted a startled squeak, my head jerking in the direction of the decidedly masculine voice, muscles tensing. Pain jolted through my body at the movement, turning the squeal into a distressed moan.

“Easy now. I’ve stitched you up, but I can’t guarantee it’ll hold if you keep flopping about like a fish out of water.”

My death grip on the bed sheets loosened, and I relaxed back into the mattress through force of will, turning my head to face the unfamiliar, soft spoken voice.

Intense amber eyes stared down at me from beneath an unruly mop of obsidian waves.

“You!” The accusation slipped past my lips before I could stop it.

He glanced down, as if checking to ensure he was all still there. “Last time I checked.”

I followed his gaze downward, over a lightly furred, chiseled chest to a flat stomach before freezing on strong, nude hips.

Nude?

I quickly turned my head and stared a hole in the wall beside the bed. “You’re naked.”

His chuckle sent a ripple of warmth through my body. “Aren’t you just Princess Obvious. Yes. I’m naked and yes, I’m me. Any other accusations you want to hurl before I feed you some of this broth I’ve been preparing especially for you?” He pointed to the kettle hanging beside a crackling fire, where I assumed the delectable stewed vegetable scent emanated from.

His sarcasm grated my nerves, and his nudity played havoc with my already tenuous mental state. “No, but if you were to fall into some breeches, I wouldn’t complain.”

“Somehow I find that difficult to believe.”

I snorted in a most unladylike manner. “Don’t flatter yourself.”

Yup, leave it to me to write a self centered, hot, male lead. Always gotta make them difficult. *grins* Would love to know what you think. Feel free to drop a comment below. Sharing is caring 🙂

Now that you have all the juicy details, lets get to the question I had for Ms. Winters.

What does the Lil’ Genie series have in store for its readers? What sorts of cats can you let out of the proverbial bag for us?

Sheryl: I am currently writing a short story about Fhina’s cousin, Tessa.  While I can’t comment on the plot, I can tell you the earrings Fhina kitty-napped will come back to haunt her. This time it will affect not only Fhina, but Tessa and her bakery as well.

Nice! Looking forward to checking that one out. A huge thanks to you for stopping by for a visit.

Now that I have your attention.

Special treat alert!!

I’ve got some skinny for all of you on my friend and fellow margarita sister, DC Stone’s most recent Evernight Publishing release, INTIMATE DANGER. As if the cover isn’t hot enough for you, that quote from Charlie Lopez should steam you up a bit. Love a girl who knows what she wants.

Here’s all the relevant dirt on what looks to be a hot and intriguing romantic suspense novel.

intimate-danger1mTitle: Intimate Danger
by DC Stone
Genre: Romantic Suspense
Release Date: June 11, 2014
Publisher: Evernight Publishing

ABOUT THE BOOK:
When FBI agent Trent Rossi arrives to investigate a chain of crimes—devastating murders and violent rapes—an inexperienced small town Detective, Charlie, who’s assigned to assist, finds her desire surging for the agent—only to realize he is the primary suspect.

A sleeping threat has awakened in the small town of Nyack. Crimes in the cozy village, garner the attention of the FBI, who assign two agents to assist Charlie in tracking down the sick and deranged perpetrator. Agents Trent Rossi and Dillon Echols work closely with Charlie, but as the crimes progress, dark secrets begin to cloud the air, blurring the line between who is on the side of the law and who’s against it. Being Charlie’s first major case, she’s unprepared not only for the menacing killer on the loose, but also with the unexpected feelings Trent draws out of her.

While Trent holds secrets, disappears at random, and seems to understand their perpetrator all-too-well, Charlie’s suspicions grow along with the pull she feels toward him. Her attraction could become fatal, yet she does not realize it until it is too late.

EXCERPT:

Jesus, he should be looking for this Detective Lopez, but his body screamed for this woman. He fought the urge to fidget, cursed the hours he had been working, unable to get any kind of companionship. He would have to work quick and then find Charlie. “I’m Agent Rossi with the FBI.” He leaned against the desk, gave her the look that had gotten him into pants faster than any of his college buddies, and held out a hand. She looked at his palm as if it were a serpent ready to strike.

“And? How can I help you, Agent Rossi?” She rose from her chair and crossed her arms under her breasts. He tried—and failed—to ignore how the movement pushed her plentiful mounds up toward her chin.

He pulled his hand back and ran it through his hair.

Bad move! The stench coming from under his arm made him wince.

“Look, I know you probably have things to do,” he said.

She nodded, brows lifted to her hairline, as if saying “no shit.” He went on, “But I do need to find Detective Lopez. You’d be a real sweetheart if you could point me in his direction. I’m here on a case and I don’t know…maybe after I’m done briefing him, you’d like to have dinner with me? That is, if you’re not busy?”

The contortion of her brows twisted before a sly smile spread.

“You’re looking for Charlie, huh?”

Someone groaned, and Trent glared over his shoulder, perplexed. The heavyset guy in need of Tide shook his head and looked away. Irritated at the interruption and apparent lack of man code, Trent turned his attention back to the cute little female.

He nodded. “Yeah.”

The woman shifted and sat in the chair with purposeful, slow movements. She set one foot on the desk, crossed a long leg over the other. Each action played out in slow motion through his lust-filled brain. He shifted, his focus glued to the smooth expanse of a jean-covered thigh, and stepped closer.

Hummidy, hummidy, hummidy.

“And why is it you need Charlie?” The woman ran a hand up the outside of her leg and his attention followed it. His mouth went dry.

“Umm, a case.”

“A case?”

“Yeah.” When silence met him, he realized what was happening. You didn’t have to go through interrogation and interview classes in order to figure it out. He was being led. His gaze snapped to hers, except this time, her face did not look friendly. If the hardening of her mouth was any indication, she looked pissed. And he’d been totally caught just checking her out.

Resigned, he let out a breath.

“Yeah, a case. Look, I’m sorry for all—” He waved a hand between them. “This. Could you just point me in the direction of Detective Lopez?”

Her hard mouth softened and she stood from her chair again, lips turning up at the corners. Leaning in to him, her scent surrounded him and he got a whiff of coconut.

His gaze tracked along her face, and dropped to her shirt, which parted as she leaned forward. He about choked as he tried to swallow, his mouth dry as the Arizona desert.

“Well, Agent Rossi.”

Lean forward a little more, please.

“If you could stop staring at my tits for all of two seconds, then I’ll tell where you can find Detective Lopez.”

The noisemaker behind him let out a strangled cough.

He snapped his regard up to hers. Hazel eyes blared with anger. Crap.

“Shit, I’m sorry. Seriously, it has been a long damn day. If you’d just tell me where he is, Miss?” He raised his brows, wanting her name. Good Lord, he wanted her name.

She smiled sweet, the transformation of her face a thing of beauty. “It’s Detective.”

He raised a brow, a sick feeling creeping up his spine. “Detective?” he croaked.

The smile spread to her eyes. “Yes, and to not only help you, but to also answer your question, it’s Detective Lopez. How can I help you, Agent Rossi?”

The noisemaker behind him snorted out a laugh.

Portals Blog Tour: Top Two Fantasy Movies #Fantasy #NewRelease

PortalsTourButton

Welcome back to the blog.

Today, I have a treat for you all. In getting ready for the Portals tour, the authors and I talked about our favorite fantasy movies and compared notes. Today, I get to share their favorites with you all.

Before I get to their responses, think for a minute about what two fantasy movies you would pick if you have to choose only two favorites.

I’ll share mine once we hear from the amazing Portals authors and I’ve had a chance to share their new release with you all.

Here is what the Portals authors had to say:

Michael Siciliano:

1. The Princess Bride

Vizzini: You fell victim to one of the classic blunders—the most famous of which is, “Never get involved in a land war in Asia”—but only slightly less well-known is this: “Never go against a Sicilian when death is on the line”!

2. Monty Python and the Holy Grail

Minstrel: And Saint Attila raised the hand grenade up on high, saying, ‘O Lord, bless this thy hand grenade, that with it thou mayst blow thine enemies to tiny bits, in thy mercy.’ And the Lord did grin. And the people did feast upon the lambs and sloths, and carp and anchovies, and orangutans and breakfast cereals, and fruit-bats and large chu…

Maynard: Skip a bit, brother…

Minstrel: And the Lord spake, saying, First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin. Then shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out! Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who, being naughty in my sight, shall snuff it.

Havva Murat:

Pan’s Labyrinth and Stardust

Echo Shea:

“Green Mile” and “From Dusk till Dawn”

Anna Simpson:

Willow (1988) – The only character I saw was Val Kilmer. I had to watch it a few more times before I noticed all the magic, brownies the size of Barbie dolls, a two headed dragon, and a crazy crew of heroes that had no chance of success. Then and now, they are the only kind of heroes worth watching; all facing enormous odds for sake of a child’s life.

DragonHeart (1996) – Sean Connery’s voice did more than a voice-over in this film. I’ve never seen betrayal played better than when David Thewlis. Oh, how I hated him as he broke free from the goodie goodie prince role and became king. What brought them together and what kept them a part made for an outstanding story that still makes me look to the sky with a quivering chin. I do believe in dragons and always will.

Christy Thomas:

My number one Fantasy movie is definitely John Carpenter’s ‘They Live’. Aliens are frightening, but the idea that they could so easily control the world is creepy.

Another favorite is Matrix. Neo had been given the ultimate choice, to see the truth, or remain in the illusion. I would hope I would be courageous enough to take the red pill, but I think there are many people that would be happy to take the blue one because it’s easy to ignore the truth, especially when it’s hard to swallow. (Pun intended)

Laurie Treacy:

Lord of the Rings series and Labyrinth.

* * * *

There are a few listed above I hadn’t even thought of until this came up — two of which I consider on my tops lists… The Princess Bride and Labyrinth

My top two picks (before checking out the others) are:

THE NEVERENDING STORY and THE DARK CRYSTAL — Yes, I did (and still do) have a slight obsession with Muppets and muppet type creatures 🙂

Would love to hear some of your favorites… do you have some that aren’t on the list?

* * * *

Now that you have a bit of an idea of the authors’ taste in fantasy flicks, as well as my own, let’s take a closer look at their new release, PORTALS.
